July 2013 Cuttyhunk, Woodshole Sail with Shirley July 3 - 7
July 3rd We meet Shirley in Bristol and get ready to board boat. Bob uses a kayak to get out to Jay’s mooring and brings the dinghy back to pick up all the gear we brought.
One trip does it, thankfully. We unloaded all the bags at the wall and left two cars in Jay's driveway. A friend of Trish’s was also using driveway, for dinner and fireworks. We stayed on the boat for evening and watched what appeared to be a private firework display that was better than the Bristol fireworks. Bristol was packed, three events going on and not much room to park or drive.
Glad we were on the boat.

July 4th Up at 4am for an early foggy departure to Cuttyhunk. Went down the Sekonic river, Shirley did some driving. We wanted to arrive before all the moorings were gone. No worries, we were there by 10am and there were plenty of choices.
Thankfully the fog cleared just as we arrived.

Anita, her mother and Todd Smith were there. We explored the island a bit, got some food and then back to boat to cook dinner.
odd, Anita and mother joined us for wine and conversation after dinner. Lots of lively discussion. I enjoyed talking to her mother. We did watch some rather weak fireworks display at end of evening that were covered in heavy mist.

July 5th: Thought we might head to Nantucket or Martha’s Vinyard to meet up with friends. The winds at 25kts, current, and waves 2-4' were going with us today, tomorrow it would be against us so we grabbed a mooring at Eel Pond in Woods Hole. Went out for drinks and dinner then bought Ben and Jerry’s coffee coffee buzz buzz ice cream to bring back to boat for desert. Ohhh it was good!
July 6: We all walked to the only breakfast place and then around town before heading out.
The fun part was to unloaded as much Bahamas stuff as possible. (lots of driftwood) There was still quite a bit left to unload for next weekend.
The motor on the dingy gave out so Bob rowed us in from Jay's mooring and then he went back out, took off, motor, pulled boat up on bow just as the wind picked up.
Shirley and I went to see Jay to thank him for letting us use his driveway. He was not looking so good, he had been in a scooter accident in Bermuda. Concussion, black eye, multiple burises, scrapes, and lots of swelling. He was moving very slow. He is in for a long recovery.
Bob finally finished securing the boat and came in on kayak, chatted for a bit and then Shirley headed for Lenox and we headed for Dover.
